The Boys, in Photographs

To those of you who missed me while I was actually having a life, I love you man. To those who didn't, well, I guess you have lives all the time. Isn't that nice. No, I'm not bitter, why do you ask?

I've been insanely busy and have way too much to write about to actually do it. For now, let's go with an installment of the canine chronicles. Many of you -- okay, three of you -- have taken the time to write me and specifically ask for pictures, video, and news about the dogs. That may be more than the number of emails professing to be pining away without me.

I'm not sure how to take that.

So, without further ado, I present Batman and Mason:

Batman, rolling in the yard

Mason, after his bath last week

Batman taking a breather yesterday.

Nap time.

Mason's freakish drumsticks. Mason has odd back legs. You can't tell so much when he's walking, but sometimes he lies down like this. I can't imagine how this could be comfortable.

Mason, last summer at the dog beach.
Not a recent pic, but it makes me smile to look at it.

I should've gotten a pic of Batman playing with the new tug toy Teen Demon let him pick out at the pet store today. She'll have to be careful of his teeth ...

  1. Looks like a rare sunny day for you, there in the Pacific Northwest, and Batman looks happy to be free at last.

  2. Love all the pup pics but the Naptime has to be the best. And of course you were missed, silly girl (Oh God was that sexist - so sue me!) But two teens, two dogs, an old house - figured you had you hands full for a bit there.

Happy Easter to the two legged and four legged gang at your place from the two legged gang at ours.

  8. Elizabeth: No, not a sunny day, just not raining, ha! The beach shot was from last summer. Yes, Batman was happy to be free, but that night he was limping and holding up his leg ... apparently the ligament is still not completely healed, after 5 weeks. Damnit! Last week i took him for a long walk with no ill effects, so I'd assumed he ok to run and play. (You know what ASSume did...)

Willym: Thanks! And "silly girl" just enables me to feel young while in active denial about marking another year on the calendar.

All y'all: Thanks for the pro-puppy pic love! The naptime pic was especially Awwww-worthy because they usually sleep in separate beds. Like an old married couple. That's why I snapped the shot. And the beach shot, between the sun and catching him in mid-lick, it makes me smile.

  11. Both healthy at the same time?? No tooth or tummy or ligament things? Goddess be praised! But just in case, don't let the boy stop dating the vet's daughter- just sayin'

Handsome lads, good to see them having fun after the crappy winter you guys have had

  14. "Mason sleeping" and "naptime" are priceless shots. Without sounding totally and completely like a really affected dog person, both shots have been added to the insane canines nightstand collection. Spoiled dog? Never!

  15. Mason is clearly a yogi. Too cute!

  16. All y'all again: The boys self esteem has soared as a result of their popularity with you good folks! Thanks for the canine compliments.

And Doralong, turns out that after their jaunt in the park, Batman was limping/holding his leg up again later that night, so the ligament is apparently not fully healed yet. It's been 5 weeks! (and the son&gf just celebrated 6 months! agh!) And Monica, we don't know what's up with Mason's legs -- he does have pain afterward if he runs too much (which he loves to do at the park) and he's pretty old, so either he's got arthritis or hip dysplasia -- his hips are kind of skinny compared to the rest of him, and the bones look funky in certain positions. Al, Batman sends his love to his online gf.

    Next come the rabbit pics.

  18. Hat -- if it makes you feel any better, Batman had the audacity to eat the jacket cover to Barack Obama's book. Welcome back!
